A warm welcome to the TOEIC Blog!
This is to share all our experiences about TOEIC - a new tool shortly to be introduced in India. TOEIC or the Test of English for International Communication is a great tool to test you English skills covering all aspects - Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing.
The tool is used all over the world - across 90 countries! 9000 corporations use this test for recruitment, deciding on promotion and international transfers. The tool being launched on a huge scale in India is all set to change the way English language has been assessed and certified in India.
Why is this important for us?
There are many reasons but here are the most important ones:
1. We are professionals need to assess our own English skills - Skills that are used in the workplace. What better way than to use TOEIC - a English test designed for the workplace?
2. As TOEIC gets adopted by corporations in India it will be one of the important recruitment. crietrion - simply because English is required in every job. So, we should get the TOEIC advantage before others do! Get your skills certified through TOEIC!
3. The India advantage rests to a large extent on the workforce's ability to communicate in English - whether it be in a BPO context or in software consulting where communication with the client is essential. As we assess ourselves we can know our opportunity areas (weaknesses) and train to improve. If everyone does this - India's English skills improve!
I first took the test at P&G in Japan where the test was mandatory for all employees and the score were used as a promotion criteria. The scores were also used to assign training modules for employees.
